The Friends of LBA Woods is a volunteer stewardship group devoted to the restoration of wildlife habitat in the LBA Woods and to advocating for the protection and enhancement of the park for our community.
LBA Woods is the 133-acre wooded portion of the LBA Park & Woods, a city park in southeast Olympia, Washington. The main park entrances are at 3333 Morse-Merryman Rd. and 3500 Amhurst St. To locate additional pedestrian-bicycle entrances, consult the Park Map.
Thanks to the 220+ of you who submitted comments and spoke out last month on removing the Log Cabin Road Extension from the Thurston Regional Transportation Plan. Our comments definitely got the conversation going among all the elected and appointed officials who are weighing in on this proposed road through the LBA Woods. The final vote by the Thurston Regional Planning Council is this Friday, July 11th.
Now it's time to rock the vote! Thankfully, there is strong support for removing the road from the plan but why take chances? If we each take just 5 minutes to send a quick message to the three councils and boards listed below, we can prevent anyone from going wobbly on their vote this week. We’ve made it easy for you:
Cut and paste this short message into an email: Please respect the plans of the City of Olympia and remove the Log Cabin Road Extension from the draft Regional Transportation Plan.
Cut and paste this into the subject field: Remove Log Cabin Road Extension from RTP
Address the specific council or board--e.g. "To the members of the Lacey City Council".
Add a few lines to personalize your message if you like. Add your name and address at the end.
Send it to the following groups by the listed deadlines:
Tuesday July 8th by 12 noon to the county Transportation Policy Board atinfo@trpc.org
Thursday July 10th by 12 noon to the Thurston Regional Planning Council at info@trpc.org
Have More Time? Contact the Friends of LBA Woods at lbawoodsoly@gmail.com for details on giving a 2-minute public comment via Zoom at Transportation Policy Board meeting on Wednesday July 9th and/or Thurston Regional Planning Council meeting Friday July 11th. Both meetings start at 8:30 a.m.
